The week in one breath
540 new MCP servers landed in the official registry this week and 1,608 shipped updates. Of the 28,512 public endpoints we check, 84% answered a real MCP handshake. Translation: the ecosystem keeps exploding, and a big slice of it still doesn't work when you plug it in.

Our take
Registry volume isn't the story anymore. Reliability is. With roughly 16% of public endpoints failing a basic handshake, the question to ask before wiring a server into a workflow isn't "does it exist?" but "did it answer today, and did its tools change?" That's exactly what we track.
One tip
Prefer remote servers with OAuth for anything touching customer data. You get scoped, revocable access instead of pasting a long-lived API key into a config file.
