Slack runs its own MCP server, and ChatGPT and Claude both offer Slack as a ready-made app or connector.
- Endpoint:
https://mcp.slack.com/mcp(Streamable HTTP only) - Sign-in: Slack OAuth. Your workspace admin may need to approve the app.
- Fastest path: ChatGPT → the Slack app (OpenAI guide). Claude → Customize → Connectors → Slack (Slack guide). Claude Code:
/plugin install slack. - Building your own client? You need a Slack app (directory-published or internal) with a confidential OAuth client. Dynamic Client Registration isn't supported.
- In the official MCP Registry: No. Slack publishes it in its developer docs.

How to add Slack to Claude Code
- Remote server: run
claude mcp add --transport http <name> <url>. - Local server: run
claude mcp add <name> -- <command>with the install command from the server page. - Run
/mcpinside Claude Code to sign in.

Is it safe to connect Slack to Claude Code?
The official server is run by Slack, uses OAuth and respects your workspace permissions and admin approvals. Community Slack servers often use bot or user tokens you paste in, so treat them as third-party.
